Everybody gets some sort of newsletter in their inbox, whether it be from another blogger within a specific niche, restaurants, churches, sporting events, concert updates, etc. Why? Because they work.

The main purpose of a newsletter is to inform, promote, and make the user engage by completing a sale with a call to action or driving more traffic to the company’s website. Most businesses should be utilizing an e-blast of some sort to promote and sell their products or services, depending on your industry.

Being a freelancer graphic designer, website developer, or anything on your own working from home is hard work. There’s absolutely no doubt about it. That’s why there are other great entrepreneurs and companies that you should be following who are successful and can get tips and tricks from. That’s why there are blogs and twitterers that you should be following for tutorials and finding out new and easier ways to do things. Below is a list of subscriptions, whether it be a magazine, a blog that I follow religiously, or a twitter friend that I keep up with because of the relevancy of their information. Before the list, let me tell you. I don’t know why I waited soooo long to get a Mac (this is my first one). I had an old PC that ran all of those background tasks and that operating system they call Windows. I was living in hell. I bought the iMac in early January 2010 and I can safely say that I will die before I go back to a PC. The GUI is amazing, the speed and agility this computer has is beyond my expectations. I have no problems popping up 6 different programs with 18 different websites open in Safari while jamming out to Metallica, and with the below widgets all at one time. It is amazing. Not much else I can say. It was worth the 2,000 (including a 3 year maintenance plan and 500GB external hard drive).
